Val Kilmer became The Doors’ lead singer Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone’s 1991 film The Doors. With long hair, leather pants, and that brooding rock-star stare, Kilmer was virtually identical to Morrison. He even lived like the singer for a full year to prepare.
The resemblance was so strong that Morrison’s bandmates were stunned. Many still say Kilmer’s performance is the gold standard for rock biopics.
