21. River Phoenix – Dark Blood (2012/2018)
River Phoenix died of a heroin and cocaine overdose at the West Hollywood club The Viper Room in 1993 while filming Dark Blood. The rising star had already delivered unforgettable performances in Stand By Me and My Own Private Idaho.
The film was halted and later completed with director George Sluizer filling in missing scenes through narration. It finally saw a limited release years later, offering fans a glimpse of Phoenix’s final work.
