#27: Shared Family Nightmare

Ok you just stopped me dead in my tracks. Some 30-odd years ago when I was a little kid, my family and I visited Durango from DFW. Dad must have gotten a bonus or something, because the four of us were in a pretty nice hotel. Our room was like a big square but with a 2F loft overlooking the main floor and large floor to ceiling windows across. My brother and I are asleep in separate beds upstairs while mom and dad are in a large king bed downstairs, when I wake up to some ruckus downstairs.

When I look over the railing down to the main floor, I see only what I can describe as small men in brightly colored warrior gear and face masks with sticks coming in through the windows and beginning to surround my parent’s bed. I look over at my (sleeping) brother, only for him to have turned into some kind of entity himself. At that moment, I screamed loudly and remember everyone else waking up and the visions disappearing. My mom, brother, and I decide to go for a walk outside, and when I’m sharing the story of my nightmare, mom froze and said that she was so glad that I screamed because she was having a nightmare as well: the exact same thing I was seeing, she was seeing from her perspective. It’s a family story that’s stuck with us ever since. I’m so tempted to call her right now and share that you had what sounds like such a similar encounter. There’s definitely more than what we know of in this world, and definitely something in that part of the country. That’s absolutely wild.
