#8: Father’s Coma Wake-Up
My friend in college called me for advice because their dad was in a coma after some health issues and her family was told it was time to pull the plug, no brain activity, he’s gone. Her mom couldn’t handle it and told her she had to make the choice. A bit overwhelming so she called to ask what I would do. It just so happened I’d read an article just the day before about that same medical problem, it caused a coma, the wife refused to listen to the doctors, and the guy woke up a year later.
I told her about it and suggested she wait a couple weeks if they could pay for it. She said yeah maybe I’ll decide in a week or two. 10, maybe 12 days later she calls me, her dad woke up! I was like holy [cow], did my habit of reading super random articles keep a guy alive?
