16. I don’t understand how scientology came into play
Top Comment: My mom pulled me and all my siblings out of public school because my 5th grade teacher gave an accurate lesson on Christopher Columbus. My mom came into my classroom all hotheaded. She opened up my outdated textbook and pointed to the sentence that said “Some believe Christopher Columbus was led by God to the new land.” My mom proceeded to berate my teacher for teaching “falsehoods” and “blasphemy” to her child.
She was probably the best teacher I had. My mom hated her. My mom then “taught” us in home school. Those were the worst 4 years of my life. I learned nothing from my mom, who was absent, even as a stay at home mom.
It’s insane how it only takes ONE thing to set a crazy parent off the rails…
