As Mandy was sorting everything out in her head, the scout started howling in another room of the house. At first, she was surprised. Then she thought, Scout had never done anything like this before. He never howled at the corner of a wall in their old apartment. He hadn’t even barked, for that matter. Mandy turned the stove down to low and went to check on Scout.
