Vent Under the Carpet
As James rounded the corner, Scout looked up at him for a split second before returning his gaze to the corner. James noticed that Scout wasn’t barking at the wall, but at the floor. So he felt the carpet and noticed a slight bulge just at the corner. He grabbed his box cutter and made an incision in the carpet, pulling back the carpet to reveal a vent underneath. He and Mandy went back to the blueprints.

The original blueprints from when it was built in the late 19th century had the vent, but the blueprints from the realtor strangely did not. The couple agreed that was odd.
