Hasebe – The Giant Pink Rabbit
Scared of pink bunnies? What’s even scarier is when they’re giant, and turning rotten grey. This enormous rabbit was installed as an art installation in 2005 on a hill in Colletto Fava, Northern Italy. Originally, it was a whopping 200 feet long and 20 feet high. It’s designed to look like it has its “guts” spilling out, giving the impression that it has fallen from the sky.
What was the purpose of this artwork? It’s said to have been intended to give visitors the feeling of stepping into the Lilliputian world of “Gulliver’s Travels.” It was originally intended to be installed for 20 years, so its deadline is set for 2025, but due to the cold climate and the passage of time, the rabbit has gradually been losing its form.
