Pegasus Airlines Flight 8622 Runway Excursion
For a plane, running out of runway is even scarier than running out of gas. Pegasus Airlines Flight 8622 experienced this firsthand when it overran the runway while attempting to land at Trabzon Airport. Luckily, the plane stopped just short of plunging into the Black Sea, and all passengers were safe. Still, everyone must have been in a state of panic during that time. The photo below captures the moment the plane was dangling precariously close to the Black Sea.
This incident occurred in 2018, and the Trabzon Province government is investigating the cause. Initial reports suggest that an unintended acceleration due to a power surge may have been to blame. One of the pilots has supported this theory, and so far, no one has disputed it.
