Island of Solitude
You might have heard the saying, “No man is an island,” but in this case, living on a solitary island is entirely possible. This tiny island, known as “Hub Island” or “Just Room Enough Island,” is the perfect example. Does it have electricity? Being in New York, it probably does. The island is only about 3,300 square feet.
The Sizeland family purchased the island in the 1950s, and today it features a house, a tree, shrubs, and a small beach. The family was looking for a vacation getaway, and in true New York fashion, they chose this spot not because land was scarce, but because the space was expensive! Family and newspapers often joked that “one wrong step and you’re swimming!”
