27. The Mustache Guard Spoon

Victorian gentlemen took their facial hair seriously—so seriously, they invented a spoon with a metal shield to protect mustaches from soup. The mustache guard was a curved lip on the spoon that blocked hot liquids from dripping onto your dignified facial fringe.

It was classy, absurd, and wildly impractical. People either missed their mouths or ended up sipping more mustache than broth. Still, it was considered a mark of refinement. Today it feels more like cosplay for soup-loving hipsters. Add a monocle and you’re ready for battle.
