In a time when corsets already crushed ribs and organs, someone decided they also needed electricity. Enter the “Electric Corset” of the early 1900s—an undergarment wired with tiny metal coils meant to “stimulate health” via gentle shocks while shaping your waist.

Women reported tingling, burning, and occasional small shocks in… unfortunate places. One reviewer said it made her feel like “an electrocuted hourglass.” The invention faded out fast, mostly because women realized fainting from tight lacing was bad enough without added zaps.
