Long Hours Inside
Mark remained outside, hidden in the dark, as Emily disappeared through the doorway. He parked across the street, scanning the entrance repeatedly with growing dread. Minutes dragged into hours, and still, there was no sign of her return. His thoughts spiraled as he imagined countless reasons for her presence inside—none of them innocent.
The building itself seemed lifeless from the outside, yet something about it radiated unease. Mark couldn’t shake the fear that what he might uncover would shatter everything. His imagination built worst-case scenarios faster than he could silence them. And yet, he couldn’t force himself to leave—not without knowing the truth.
