Life as Usual
Emily continued her daily routine as if nothing had changed. She sang while she made lunch, tidied the kitchen without missing a beat, and even paused to hum her favorite tune while folding clothes. Mark, watching closely, kept his behavior exactly as before. He didn’t want to raise suspicion by reacting too quickly or too emotionally. From the outside, everything seemed normal.
Yet beneath the surface, Mark’s internal world had shifted. He paid close attention to her facial expressions, the way her hands moved, how long she lingered at the window. He wanted to believe her happiness was real, but something about it felt rehearsed. Maybe he was overthinking. Or maybe, now that he could see, he was finally noticing what had been hidden from him all along.
