A Cryptic Warning
The stranger looked around nervously, then said, “You don’t know what you’ve gotten yourself into.” His voice was low but urgent, like someone warning a man standing on a landmine. Mark’s hands clenched, desperate for something more solid than cryptic threats. “Then tell me!” he pleaded, nearly shouting. “What is it that I don’t know?”
The man shook his head, clearly uncomfortable. “You’re closer to the truth than you think,” he said slowly. “But trust me—some things are better left buried.” With that, he turned and walked away, leaving Mark stunned. The words echoed in his mind. It wasn’t just suspicion anymore—there was something real and dangerous under the surface. And now, he had confirmation that what he was chasing might change everything he thought he knew.
