Following From Afar
Wanting answers, Mark followed Emily discreetly during her errands. At first, there was nothing out of the ordinary—she went to the market, visited the post office, and stopped by a friend’s house for a short chat. Everything seemed typical, almost disappointingly so. Mark kept his distance, watching from across the street or from a car window, never drawing attention.
But even in the mundane, Mark was searching for meaning. He was conflicted—part of him felt guilty for not trusting her, while another part felt justified. If there was something to uncover, he wanted the truth. But if there wasn’t, he knew he risked damaging the trust they had built. For now, he remained in the shadows, hoping for clarity one way or another.
