Lifting Mom’s Spirits
Michael made a constant effort to lift his mother’s spirits despite the heavy circumstances. He frequently told jokes and prepared her favorite dishes to brighten her days. “You’re the best cook, Mom,” he said warmly, serving her homemade lasagna with a hopeful smile. Cathy’s eyes lit up briefly, clearly enjoying the small moment of joy amid her struggles.
Seeing her fragile state was painful, but Michael masked his worry with gentle smiles. “We’ll get through this, you’ll see,” he whispered softly. Cathy’s weak chuckle showed she appreciated his kindness, even though sadness still lingered in her eyes.
