The police arrived promptly, and Nicole was taken into custody. Detective Harris personally made the arrest. “Nicole James, you are under arrest,” he stated firmly. Nicole looked shocked, her face turning pale as the reality sank in.
As officers escorted her out, Nicole glanced back at Cathy, who avoided meeting her eyes. Michael let out a sigh of relief, knowing this was a major breakthrough. “Thank you, Detective,” Michael said, shaking Harris’s hand. Harris replied with determination, “This isn’t over yet.”
