The Sugar Spoon War
In 1749, two nobles at a Polish royal banquet argued over who had the right to use a golden sugar spoon. One insisted he brought it, while the other claimed ancestral ownership. The argument grew so intense that a family feud erupted, dragging villages into armed conflict.
It lasted only a few days, but not before dozens were injured in brawls and duels. The spoon was later melted down to prevent further fighting. So yes — in the 18th century, even tea service could be fatal.
