Pegasus Airlines Flight 8622 Runway Excursion
For an airplane, running out of runway is even scarier than running out of gas. Pegasus Airlines Flight 8622 experienced just that when it overran the runway while attempting to land at Trabzon Airport. Luckily, the plane came to a stop just before plunging into the Black Sea, and all passengers were safe. However, there’s no doubt that everyone panicked during that time. The photo below captures the moment just before the plane was about to fall into the Black Sea.
This accident occurred in 2018, and the Trabzon Governorate is investigating the cause. Initial reports suggest that an unintended acceleration due to a power surge may have been the cause. One of the pilots supports this theory, and so far, no one has contradicted it.
