Big Nest
This incredible photo probably made the photographer, and anyone who saw it initially, wonder what they were looking at. The picture shows a massive nest created by hundreds of birds. These birds are highly skilled at maintaining their nests, which are said to last for up to 100 years if properly managed. You might have initially thought it was a giant moose head caught in power lines, but it’s actually something different.
Like many other birds, their chicks are helpless when they hatch, without feathers and unable to see. Building a sturdy nest is crucial to protect them from predators. You may have seen videos on YouTube or elsewhere of predators attacking nests and eating chicks or eggs. Parent birds build such strong nests to protect their species.
