Basin

Ever since gas was discovered, we’ve harnessed its energy to power things like cars and planes. While airplanes are super convenient for long journeys, these flying marvels will eventually reach the end of their service life. What happens to them then?

Retired airplanes are sent to “boneyards.” There are many boneyards around the world, but the largest one is in Tucson, Arizona, holding approximately 4,000 aircraft. These planes aren’t immediately scrapped; parts are often removed and reused. The shells of retired planes might look a little forlorn, but the sight of a boneyard is truly grand and impressive.
