Realistic Toy Guns
Before modern safety laws, toy guns were almost indistinguishable from real firearms, often made of metal or realistic plastic. They caused dangerous misunderstandings, sometimes with fatal consequences when law enforcement couldn’t tell them apart from real weapons.
This lack of differentiation made these toys highly controversial, leading to regulations requiring bright orange tips and obvious plastic construction. Today’s toy guns are designed to avoid confusion, but these vintage models are chilling reminders of a time when kids were basically given fake weapons with no safeguards.
