Freshening Breath with Pee

These days, a quick spritz of minty mouthwash does the trick after a garlicky meal. But back in the 18th century, they used a method that’s way more gag-inducing: urine. Thanks to its ammonia content, it was thought to disinfect the mouth and whiten teeth.

This practice ain’t new; the Romans were already firm believers. And even if it *could* theoretically work, the thought of rinsing your mouth with pee just makes you wanna hurl these days. Thankfully, oral hygiene has come a long way since then.
