#5: The Grueling Task of Submarine Supply Day

Submarine crews are built differently; nothing shows that more than “stores load” day. It’s the most challenging day before a 10-week patrol, and everyone feels it. Every supply for 143 people must fit through small, awkward hatches. Food, toiletries, tools, and snacks—all of it goes in by hand.

There’s no rank today; even officers help carry the load. The whole crew works together in perfect sync. It’s sweaty, slow, and physically draining from start to finish. But it’s also a ritual that builds respect and unity. This kind of teamwork isn’t unique on submarines—it’s expected.
