Melissa sat at the table surrounded by maps, radios, and serious faces. Officer Johnson pointed to different positions on the diagram. “We’ll have officers positioned both inside and outside the bar,” he explained. “At the first sign of danger, we’ll intervene immediately. You won’t be alone for a second.” His tone was calm but firm.
Officer Davis leaned in, voice low but reassuring. “You’ve prepared for this, Melissa. Trust your instincts. They’ve brought you this far.” Melissa looked at them both, then took a slow, steady breath.
