Comfort Wipe

Billed as “the first improvement to toilet paper as we know it,” the Comfort Wipe was a 15-inch-long plastic wand meant to help you reach your backside. It even had a button to eject the soiled paper afterward—because using your hand is just too 20th century.

Though it claimed to assist people with limited mobility, it quickly became an object of ridicule. The ad’s tone-deaf phrasing and demonstration footage went viral for all the wrong reasons. Reviewers described it as more humiliating than helpful—and absolutely horrifying as a gift.
