It’s probably no surprise that soda isn’t good for you. Actually, it’s bad for everyone, not just folks over 60. That being said, it’s considerably worse once you’re over that age. The older you get, the riskier soda becomes. Soda is simply high in sugar and empty calories. Quickly, it can start to seriously contribute to obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Plus, excessive sugar intake leads to blood sugar spikes, which puts a strain on your cardiovascular system.

To avoid problems like these, you’re better off cutting out soda or at least limiting how much you drink. There are healthier alternatives, like water, tea, and fruit juice.
