Hasebe – The Giant Pink Rabbit
This massive pink bunny, plopped down on a hillside in Colletto Fava, Northern Italy back in 2005, was intended as a bit of an art installation, and boy, did it turn heads. At 200 feet long and 20 feet high, it’s a real whopper, designed to look like it crash-landed from the sky with its guts spilling out. The whole point was to give folks the feeling they’d stumbled into a real-life “Gulliver’s Travels,” and it definitely has that other-worldly vibe.
Originally, this bunny was meant to chill out here for 20 years, with 2025 being the expiration date. But, thanks to the frosty weather and passage of time, that vibrant pink has faded, leaving it looking more like a decaying grey eyesore. This enormous, slightly creepy figure kinda gives you the heebie-jeebies and inspires awe at the same time, which may have been the artist’s intention all along. These days, even its rotting form has become a symbol of the passage of time.
