Zulu Blowgun

The Zulu Blowgun, sold in the 1950s, was a “tribal” toy marketed to children that allowed them to shoot sharp darts. The packaging leaned heavily on offensive stereotypes and promoted a weaponized toy that could cause serious injuries.

Children frequently aimed at siblings and pets, resulting in painful accidents. The toy was eventually pulled from shelves, but it remains an example of poor cultural sensitivity and dangerous toy design, where fun came at the cost of safety and respect.
