Waiting in Fear

Though Lilly and Pradeep were finally together again, their minds were anything but at ease. A nurse came by and informed them that it would take another three hours for the doctors to return with results. The couple tried to stay calm, but the delay only fueled their anxiety. The endless waiting felt like torture. They couldn’t stop imagining worst-case scenarios—what had the doctors found that took this long to explain?

The silence in the room was almost unbearable, broken only by their shallow breaths and glances at the clock. Both tried to comfort each other, but the tension kept growing. The longer they waited, the more they feared something terrible had happened. Deep down, they sensed the news wouldn’t be good, and that thought cast a dark cloud over the brief comfort of being in each other’s arms again.
