Respecting His Silence

Though part of me wanted to push for the truth, I paused and made a conscious decision to respect Alan’s boundaries. He clearly wasn’t ready to spill everything, and I didn’t want to risk damaging the newfound connection we were building. My questions would have to wait. Some answers, I figured, had to be earned.

I made a mental note not to mention the fitness magazines or the handwritten notes. Instead, I changed the subject, and we drifted back into light conversation. There was a peaceful rhythm between us now—one I didn’t want to disturb. Choosing respect over curiosity preserved the trust Alan had started to show.
