A Night to Feel Seen
This dinner out was her one chance to feel like herself again. Jackie had put on makeup, a nice dress, and for once didn’t have formula stains or a toddler on her hip. Even though the kids were a bit fussy, it was still better than the chaos at home.
She had hoped her husband would see her in a new light tonight—the woman he had fallen in love with before kids and chores and routines took over. But instead of sharing a meaningful evening, he was staring at a mysterious note. Her heart sank.
