Mur Island Bridge (Austria)

We travel from place to place on a daily basis. That’s why various roads and bridges are built, and large investments are made. These structures aim to make moving from point A to point B safer and more convenient, but some bridges have an even more special purpose.

The Murinsel (German for “Mur Island”), designed by artist Vito Acconci, is a bridge and island complex that imitates the shape of a shell and offers a beautiful spectacle when lit up at night. This hybrid structure is connected to a dome with various attractions via the bridge, with recreational facilities such as an amphitheater, playground, and cafe. The Murinsel offers visitors the opportunity to relax before crossing the bridge.
