Thick Eyeliner
Dark, heavy eyeliner was once a beauty go-to, especially in the early 2000s when bold eye makeup was everywhere. But as time passes, so do makeup trends, and overly thick or dark eyeliner can now unintentionally add years to your face. It creates a harsh frame around the eyes that doesn’t flatter delicate or aging skin, and instead of brightening the eyes, it often makes them appear smaller and tired.
Smudging and product settling throughout the day can also lead to raccoon eyes, emphasizing lines or crow’s feet. Lighter techniques—such as using soft brown liner, tightlining, or focusing on the lash line—create a lifted and more natural appearance. When applied with precision and restraint, eyeliner can open up the eyes and restore a youthful sparkle without being overwhelming.
