Storseisundet Bridge (Norway)
The Storseisundet Bridge is a national road bridge connecting mainland Norway with the island of Averøy, characterized by its beautiful parabola and gentle arch. This refreshing beauty makes you want to shout “Yahoo!”, but the actual construction was not easy.
This area is prone to severe hurricanes, and the bridge took six years to build. During that time, it was hit by 12 hurricanes, which meant a significant amount of money was invested in its construction. 75% of the funds were covered by public grants, and the remaining funds were to be recovered through tolls. Initially, it was expected that the costs would be recovered in 15 years, but in reality, the expenses were recovered in 10 years, and it ceased to be a toll road from June 1999.
