The Mur Island Bridge (Austria)
We travel every day, which is why roads and bridges are constantly being built, and significant investments are made in them. While these structures are designed to make getting from point A to point B safer and more convenient, some bridges serve an even more special purpose.
The Murinsel (German for “Mur Island”), designed by artist Vito Acconci, is a bridge and island complex modeled after a seashell, offering a beautiful illuminated spectacle at night. This hybrid structure connects to a dome with various attractions via the bridge and features recreational facilities such as an amphitheater, a playground, and a café. The Murinsel offers visitors the chance to relax before crossing the bridge.
