Kakum National Park Canopy Walkway (Ghana)

The canopy walkway in Kakum National Park is one of Ghana’s main attractions, stretching 350 meters long and reaching a height of 40 meters at its highest point. It’s said that there are only two canopy walkways in the entire African continent, and this is one of them. The bridge is narrow, only wide enough for one person to pass at a time, making a confident crossing a challenge. People who have actually crossed it report that the swaying of the bridge was more frightening than the height itself.

However, the view from the bridge is incredibly impressive, offering a magnificent Jurassic Park-like landscape. Regarding safety, the ropes are inspected and replaced every six months, which is said to make it relatively safe, but there’s no absolute guarantee. Therefore, crossing the bridge is sure to be a thrilling experience. Just be prepared – don’t be surprised if you encounter a Tyrannosaurus Rex!
