Abdominizer
This boomerang-shaped piece of plastic dominated late-night infomercials in the 1980s. The Abdominizer claimed to support your back and improve crunches, making sit-ups more effective. Its commercial shouted things like “Feel the burn!” and showed ripped models using it like it was a magic ab-sculpting throne.
In reality, the Abdominizer was a glorified floor wedge. It added minimal support and often caused more back strain than benefit. Despite its initial success, fitness pros quickly dismissed it as ineffective and awkward to use. It became the poster child for plastic exercise gimmicks—and ended up in garages and landfills across America.
