The Danakil Mountains in Ethiopia
The Danakil Depression in Ethiopia is one of the hottest and lowest places on Earth, sitting at 127 meters below sea level. The photos provided by “Earth Expedition” convey the beauty of its natural pools. This region is also deeply connected to the origin of mankind and is known as the place where the 3.2-million-year-old fossil “Lucy” was discovered.
Because it hardly rains throughout the year, the Awash River sometimes dries up and doesn’t reach the Indian Ocean. Although there are times when it is difficult for tourists to visit, it is an attractive research site for geologists and scientists. This photo simultaneously reflects the severity and beauty of nature.
