‘Happy Days’ Chachi (Scott Baio) and Joanie (Erin Moran) Enjoy a Beach Day, 1981

In this vintage photo, we see the beloved TV couple from ‘Happy Days,’ Chachi Arcola (played by Scott Baio) and Joanie Cunningham (played by Erin Moran), enjoying some beach time back in 1981. Super popular with fans of the hit show, these characters even landed their own spin-off series, ‘Joanie Loves Chachi,’ in 1982.

The spin-off series not only focused on Chachi and Joanie, but also introduced characters like Al Delvecchio (played by Al Molinaro), Chachi’s stepfather and the former owner of the fictional Arnold’s Drive-In from ‘Happy Days.’ Chachi’s mom, Louisa Delvecchio (played by Ellen Travolta), was also part of this ‘Happy Days’ continuation. Travolta and Baio later reunited in 1984 for the successful American TV sitcom ‘Charles in Charge,’ where they once again played a mother-son duo.
