#24: Garlic
China’s agricultural industry relies heavily on pesticides, and garlic, despite its clean appearance and low price, is no exception. While it may look fresh and appealing on store shelves, garlic is highly absorbent, soaking up much of its exposure during growth and processing.
This includes the harsh chemicals and pesticides often used in Chinese farming. As a result, consumers may unknowingly ingest harmful residues. To minimize health risks, it’s safer to choose garlic grown in countries with stricter agricultural standards and better transparency.
