Vibrant and Dangerous Frogs: The Golden Poison Frog

The Golden Poison Frog, found in Colombia, is a very colorful frog that, despite its appearance, possesses an extremely potent venom. Even with its small body, measuring only about 5 cm, it can kill up to 10 people. Local tribes even used this poison on their arrows for hunting.

However, a unique characteristic is that individuals kept as pets are not poisonous. This is because the frog accumulates toxins in its body by eating poisonous insects, and since only safe food is provided in captivity, it cannot produce the poison. Nevertheless, caution is still advised, and great care should be taken when handling them.
