Dangerous Blood-Sucking Assassin Bugs

Assassin bugs are unsettling insects to look at. They are carnivorous, preying on other insects and feeding on their bodily fluids. While they typically do not attack humans, there are rare instances where they may bite and transmit Chagas disease, a serious infection.

This disease can lead to enlarged hearts, neurological disorders, and in severe cases, even death. It is particularly prevalent in regions centered around South America, and has recently been observed in urban areas. Infection occurs when the bug defecates near the bite wound, so avoiding touching the wound is crucial for prevention.
