Eagle Droppings to Relieve Childbirth Pain
Childbirth has always been painful, but in the Middle Ages, pain relief methods were… unique. A popular “remedy” involved applying a mixture of eagle droppings and rose water to the thighs of the woman in labor.
Midwives firmly believed in it, hoping it would ease delivery. Hard to say if it was effective—but the smell alone must have complicated matters.
