A Photobomber

Taking photos, especially on vacation, is a joy for many. It offers us the opportunity to capture the places we’ve visited and the moments we’ve experienced. Landmarks like Lake Minnewanka aren’t everyday destinations, and in today’s often challenging times, such visits are becoming even rarer. Photos from these trips become treasured memories that we cherish and share with others. Fortunately, photography allows us to capture unexpected and humorous moments that would otherwise be forgotten.

Such an unforgettable moment was captured in the famous “Crasher Squirrel” photo. In this picture, taken during an outing by Mellissa and Jackson Brandt, a squirrel unexpectedly jumped into the frame and literally stole the show. Instead of a romantic portrait of the couple against the picturesque backdrop of the lake, the curious squirrel conquered the foreground. This hilarious photobomb moment resonated so much that it was published by National Geographic on their website in 2009. It raises the humorous question: Who is the real star of this photo?
