6. NoPhone – The Anti-Smartphone

NoPhone is exactly what it sounds like: a fake phone made of plastic. No screen, no apps—just a slab to hold in your hand and help break smartphone addiction. It was pitched as a satirical solution to our tech obsession and surprisingly raised over $18,000 on Kickstarter. It even came in a “Selfie” model, featuring a mirror.

The project was both a parody and a social commentary. Ironically, people who were addicted to their phones used their phones to fund a product helping themnotuse phones. The creators leaned into the absurdity, and it worked. NoPhone isn’t just a gag gift; it’s a mirror (sometimes literally) of our relationship with tech. Sometimes the joke is smarter than it seems.
