George sighed
With a long, reluctant sigh, George gave in. “Alright, come with me,” he said, gesturing toward the box now surrounded by quiet tension. Martha followed, her hands clenched into fists, each step driven by dread and determination. The rest of the team encircled the area, their faces a mixture of alertness and worry. They, too, seemed uncertain about what lay ahead.
Martha glanced around at the solemn faces before turning to George. “What am I about to see?” she asked, her voice shaking despite her steady pace. George paused and looked her in the eye. “Just keep an open mind,” he said gently. The phrase chilled her more than reassured her. She nodded tightly, mentally preparing herself for something she knew she couldn’t truly be ready for.
