Taking action
Despite the overwhelming fear weighing on him, or perhaps because of it, Carter’s determination grew stronger. He couldn’t continue living in constant fear, always looking over his shoulder and fearing an unseen enemy. The uncertainty was eating at him.
The only way forward, in his mind, was to find Avery and uncover the truth behind their brief encounter. Though it was a risky choice, Carter felt it was a necessary step to rid himself of the fear and face whatever threat was looming. Avery, he realized, held the answers he desperately needed.
