Reaching Out to Family
Driven by a restless need for answers, I decided to speak with someone close to Alan—his cousin. I hoped a family perspective might offer insights that Alan himself hadn’t shared. “Hey, have you noticed anything different about Alan lately?” I asked over the phone. Our conversation unfolded like a slow unraveling mystery, with memories and anecdotes scattered like pieces of a puzzle that didn’t quite fit. Each detail felt like a clue, even if no single piece explained the full picture.
Though it was a casual and friendly exchange, I found myself picking through every word for deeper meaning. His cousin spoke fondly of Alan, but the memories offered were vague, centered on ordinary family moments. Still, the interaction added a personal layer to my growing understanding of Alan’s transformation. Even without clear answers, the call stirred something in me—an urgency to keep digging, to make sense of how Alan had changed so completely, and perhaps, why no one else had really noticed before now.
